Accessing support early is key to making sure carers can manage their caring role. Lanarkshire Carers provide information, advice and a range of direct support services which can help you maintain or improve your quality of life and help you to continue to care. Our website provides an overview of the services we offer and how these can support you throughout your caring journey.

Our services are open to all carers aged 18 years and older living in Lanarkshire. Working throughout Lanarkshire we deliver practical and emotional support to individuals and groups, we build relationships with carers, help them to identify and address their support needs and make sure they know their rights. We offer support through Lanarkshire Carers Centre: Hamilton and Lanarkshire Carers: Airdrie, outreach and localities. We provide a tailored Equality and Diversity Carer Support Service and support Young Adult Carers aged 18-25 years old and other groups of carers who are under-represented. We work in partnership with a range of organisations and services that also help carers.

You can engage with Lanarkshire Carers in a variety of ways. This can be via telephone, an online referral through our website, visiting either of our centres in person, or by arranging an appointment through our virtual drop in service.

The support and services that we provide include:
• Adult Carer Support Plans
• Preventative support and future planning using Emergency Planning and Anticipatory Plans
• Emotional and Practical Support on a one-to-one basis with the carer using our nationally recognised Personal Outcomes Toolkit
• Support to access a Short Break, enabling carers to have a life outside or alongside their caring role and maintain their health and wellbeing so they can continue to provide care
• Helping carers to feel confident in their caring role and look after their own Health and Wellbeing through our Carer Training Programme
• Our On-Demand Wellbeing Library to give carers a short break away from their caring role and help them cope better with life as a carer
• Dedicated support for carers from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities including multi-lingual support
• Tailored support for Young Adult Carers (aged 18-25)
• Support when engaging with social work and partner organisations
• Carer Legal Clinics where carers can obtain advice on topics such as Guardianship and Power of Attorney with a solicitor
• An opportunity for carers to have their voices heard to promote direct involvement and influence improvement in the planning and delivery of health and social care services
• Our Lanarkshire Carers Call helps carers to feel less isolated and a contact for further support when required. This service is available in a range of languages including English, Urdu, Arabic and Polish
